ok...lets see then.
firstly i must say it has been an awful long time since i seen joe public speak as much about a boxing match like this...i get about 3 people a day {real life people, not the modern facebook equivilent

} talking to me about it....ryan my oldest lad {14} says all his teachers are talking about it and his mates are all having bets with each other...and my two smaller boys 8 and 5 have been telling me about all the other kids talking about the 'hayemaker' and the 'giant' in the playground..
anyhoo..
i am reluctant to give an opinion as my opinion is based on physics and last time i was very wrong....i didnt think manny pacquaio could go from being a 112lb flyweight world champion 11 years ago to beating the very best light-welterweight in the world at 140lbs...i thought it was imposssible, and it should have been..i was absolutely delighted to have been wrong.
anyhoo..
david haye will have to punch upwards for most of this fight, and the 'physics' of that will mean his punching power will be drastically reduced, as when you punch with power you really need to get your shoulder and body weight behind it...when punching up in the air it becomes arm punches without the weight behind it....i cannot see that knocking out valuev, who has never been in trouble by anyones punches so far...also, more 'physics', a big head normally means a better 'chin' or punch resistance, and aside from his overall size, valuev has a huge head...and haye was a cruiserweight, he was 14 and a half stone not long ago {valuev is naturally around 22/23 stone}...i cannot see him bothering valuev...
haye, i can see beating valuev on points...if he does what holyfield did, only more of it...he wins...just keep hitting him with jabs and light punches,,,in and out..that kind of thing, he should cruise to a points win..or could.
but..i cant see this been a great battle...just the opposite in fact...it could be a horrible fight to watch...i can imagine haye darting in with jabs and valuev tying him up, grabbing him, mauling him, hugging him and putting his weight down on him..
a point of reference for this fight could be carl thompson v david haye...thompson was a former cruiserweight champion who fought haye when he was 40 years old...haye came out blasting and nearly knocked thompson out in the first round, and the second was a repeat of the first...but thompson just about survived, and in the third round started to come to life, where as haye was looking tired from punching himself out...by the time the 5th round came haye was totally spent and thompson easily stopped him...that will hang over haye, he has stamina problems...and if he comes out blasting against valuev then it could be a copy of the thompson fight.
valuev is huge...but i do think it has been exaggerated in a lot of ways to help sell the fight...haye is taller than some of the carefully taken photos would suggest..he is standing slightly behind valuev in some and in others he was bending his knees a little...he knows the size difference will promote this...sky sports and haye camp talk about valuev being 7feet 2"...but he is 7feet dead....when you see them in the ring together the size difference wont be as apparent, trust me...valuev will be much bigger but not as much as all the promo photos suggest.
valuev is the butt of a lot of jokes, its a pity really because unlike primo canera {a previous very very big world champion from the 1930's} he is a capable boxer {canera was a product of the mafia and a lot of set-up fights to get him to world champion....the whole story was fictionalized in the 1950's in the film 'the harder they fall' with humphry bogart...one of the great boxing films}...a lot of people think valuev is a modern day canera, but he's not...he's a genuine world champion....and he is actually a gentleman, very respectful and intelligent, who does not belittle his opponents like many boxers do...
anyway...i think if haye doesnt get stamina issues from valuev hugging him with all that weight on him...and he can take it easy and pace himself, darting in and out with jabs and light body shots, he can win on points.....but i could be very wrong...i have been before...but, thats my opinion.
