well said,
I guess i'm as guilty as charged, certainly don't post here as much, but am also well aware I spend too much time in front of the laptop, so have been making an effort to restrict my time!
and I agree facebook has taken over, its so easy to access via my mobile to keep in touch..

But the hack cannot die..!

Facebook does seem to have taken over doesn't it?, which is a shame.

The Hack was much better before all these changes though - it's really confusing now, which is another reason I've not posted recently. Hope it sorts itself out.

i'm the same as michelle, just a bit infatuated with facebook......sorry, i will make more effort i promise!!

yeah im the same....i do tend 2 just quickly come on here have a look round then leave =/

meant 2 be being stricter on myself with the amount of time i spend on this laptop. Facebook does tend to be easier though.
Will try and come online and try and post something a bit more often, just never know what 2 say really x

you see, facebook is killing a lot of forums...and we too post more on facebook last few months...
but this recent change for the worse with the board layout and various other changes just encourage people to not bother and post what they have to say on facebook.

mind you, as much as this place, and the people here, have come to mean to me...i dont think i feel bothered as when distant warning died....bad as that sounds..but i think i learned something from distant warning dying.

I don't think that you should put a Hack page on Facebook. I love the fact that this little place exists here in its own right. Of course some of the changes recently are a bit annoying but I guess that's the way ahead!

I could probably post more and am guilty of just hanging around but I loved posting videos and seeing that we can't do that here anymore I guess I gravitate to fb and post vids.

I shall try and make more of an effort to post.

one thing a forum has as an advantage over facebook....its eay to find, and resurrect, old posts on a forum...awful hard finding old threads on facebook

no...i dont mean it that way....what i do mean is i think i got too close to that place...and after all it was just a forum, like this place is...and if the forum dies, it doesnt mean that friendships formed on the forum have to die too

maybe some folks dont know what to post...and are maybe folks who are more suited to responding to posts rather than starting them ??
i dont think people NEED to post regular, its not a requirment...i'm just as happy to see folks who post once a month as i am to see the regular folks...
we havent got a lot of members....and only 7-8 regular posters..
i think we havent enough members maybe..or regular posters...i dunno

I'm guilty - I cannot seem to navigate round this new site and am struggling to catch up with the posts and then I think have I got anything really to say that people are interested in. I did start my little jokey great east swim challenge but didn't really have much response in replies so I sort went into lurk mode again. I've not posted on any forums to be honest recently, I've had a couple of bad months - the light is at the end of the tunnel

Pauline, I was thinking about this the other day. I'm guilty as well, it's been a bit of a hectic summer, especially the past 6 weeks and have been away for work etc. quite a bit, but always check in every day or so.
It just seemed that there were less posts and interaction lately. And I'm guessing with everyone's kids home/ holidays for the summer time is shorter.
Whilst I love facebook for the sheer convenience of it, so easy to keep in touch, pictures etc.
I have always felt this The Hack and DW before it, is a great place to go to in the surroundings of people I am closer to.
Thanks for jolting us back. Will definitely make more of a concerted effort.

I too am guilty as charged ... and a little hopeless.

It has been a busy summer and so much is going on, but that's no excuse. I lost my way with Facebook, I find it so time consuming, I much prefer the forum environment. There's something very special about a place where friends seperated by location can stay in touch, I think if it didn't exist it would break my little heart.

And also ... ... ...

I'm not allowed to go on the internet unsupervised after Liz caught me looking at 'one of those sites' :oops:

I can't get to grips with places like facebook and really enjoy reading and sometimes getting involved with the posts. I feel like this is a great place to come to and speak to people and have even met some people from here. I'm quiet a shy person so with having the Hack it was nice at The Gathering saying hello to fellow hack members ( The tee shirts were a great help) I would be gutted if this was to disappear.

I haven't signed up to Facebook or used my My Space page for years because I'm on t'internet too much as it is.

I think the forums go quiet in the Summer anyway, but it has beenb very quiet.

I think I'm very much to blame here. Lots of people logging on, but not saying much - I really should be starting some threads.
