Welcome
Welcome to the Hackenbush Herald.

You are currently viewing our boards as a guest, which gives you limited access to the most entertaining site on the Internet... Now stop being a fool and Join up or if you have already joined then Log on... we don't bite honestly!!
Inside you will find loads of interesting people to communicate with, laugh with, share a virtual beer with, and just ask for plain old help in anything you need... We are a wide and varied bunch, quite bizarre and strange in most of the things we do, but all good people at heart...
I do however have to warn you about Doug.ie, he's a fat bald headed bloke who thinks he's king pin on the forums, however he is easily taken down a peg or two, if your having difficulty with him just ask and i'll give you a picture of him naked to use as a weapon!!

Oh...one last thing his dog is gay by the way!!!

Welcome aboard!

wooders is main brain on this...{grim may know his stuff on this too}

i'll just add a little opinion...i have seen a good few lg tv's on my travels lately and have been impressed every time...i think they wont be as much as a panasonic / pioneer etc of the same spec...i really like the look of this one...although slightly over your budget...

yeah..she told me that.

seriously though...you must have some idea of size bev ?.....i think 40-42 is a great size for an average living room...its a big screen, but i have seen 50" in average living rooms and they just look too big, in an average sized room i think you are too close to a screen that size....although down at 32" the picture will seem sharper....that right steve ?

ok, 40-42 will do, although i'd be happy with a 37 if it was a bargain..
its a mine field to me, whats with all the different stuff on them...
I want a TV, thats all to watch TV, perhaps the odd games system night when folk are round, I guess sky HD will follow later on, but not immediately. Not overly into movies, just the usual tv shite and sport !!
take these 2.. why the massive difference in price, would I notice the difference in picture?

www.argos.co.uk..... item ..... 529/5700 & 529/4048

well...i have a smasung 42" plasma...but its kinda not worth my while talking to you about it...because its an older model now and wont be like what you'll buy.

yeah...samsungs i like...and like i say i have been very impressed with every lg i have seen recently...
i suppose its what you are seeing on it though...i mentioned a while back about being in a sony store in galway and they had a dvd playing through a coax cable, each telly looked shockingly bad, as you would expect....but i bet if they all had blue ray going through hdmi i may have been impressed with some of them.

its not so much what you want it for now...its what you'll potenially want it for in 3 years...get full hd, cause when blue rays are more commonplace than they are now...you dont want to be looking at your mates telly looking better than yours.....but that samsung is full hd anyway.

again....steve ??

I'd strongly recommend going for a plasma over an LCD.

Try this:

http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/produc ... TX-P42U10B

A bit more pricey than you wanted, but the biggest bargain on the market at the moment is the LG 50PS8000. It's a 50", Full HD plasma and you can pick it up for under a grand, which is astonishing. Sadly, I don't think they're doing a 42" version at the moment.

I don't know if this would be any good, but i got this booklet through today and it sells a few tv's. www.cpc.co.uk
They've got a LG 42" LCD HD ready with freeview for £465 and an Azuki 42" LCD HD ready with freeview and built in dvd player for £325 i haven't checked them out myself but i thought it might be worth you having a look.
