Welcome
Welcome to the Hackenbush Herald.

You are currently viewing our boards as a guest, which gives you limited access to the most entertaining site on the Internet... Now stop being a fool and Join up or if you have already joined then Log on... we don't bite honestly!!
Inside you will find loads of interesting people to communicate with, laugh with, share a virtual beer with, and just ask for plain old help in anything you need... We are a wide and varied bunch, quite bizarre and strange in most of the things we do, but all good people at heart...
I do however have to warn you about Doug.ie, he's a fat bald headed bloke who thinks he's king pin on the forums, however he is easily taken down a peg or two, if your having difficulty with him just ask and i'll give you a picture of him naked to use as a weapon!!

Oh...one last thing his dog is gay by the way!!!

Welcome aboard!

Well the For Sale sign went up in the garden this morning and the house is on the Slater Hogg Website and now begins the hunt for somewhere new to live. We've been here for the last nine years and have liked it a lot apart from noisy neighbors throughout that time.

We are looking for a detached place so we can have a garden of our own in order for Boomer to have a good run around in. Once we find that place we will be adding another dog to our home. His name is Lennon and he's a one year old rescue dog. At present he is with foster owners who are prepared to look after him until we move. He's also still recovering from being run over. The SPCA here in Glasgow basically found him on the verge of death after he had been run over and just dumped to die. They have done a great job in patching him up and once his various wounds heal he will be up and running in no time at all. The Vets are impressed enough with his progress. Boomer and Lennon have met and other the next few months we will have a couple of trial runs as Lennon stays over for the night or weekend with us. The moment Kerstin told me about Lennon I was interested and a couple of days ago we went around to visit him. He is a very gentle dog (a mix between an Alsatian and a Collie I think, but he looks more like a fox!) and I'm certain that Boomer will appreciate having a friend to play with throughout the day.

The past couple of weeks we have been busy packing up stuff. Can't believe how many boxes of CD's I have (over 20) and at least 100 boxes of books and then there at least 11 years worth of videos of American Football (plus all my American Football trading cards and books!). All of this is going into storage this coming weekend. The house looks odd now with empty CD shelves. My project to put it all on the computer is to be put off for a while. I haven't even managed to get a third of it on so far (and there's already a couple of thousand uploaded!).

Still off my work at the moment and will be at least until to the end of this month but I fear that I will still be off into October dependent on response to new medication and also the possibility of surgery on my feet if I am offered that option when I go to the hospital on the 23rd.

Joy of joys. Sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately as you can see I have had other diversions. Thanks for reading.

Hoping to stay in Glasgow or maybe just outside, depends on what we find. Next time we go visit Lennon I'll get pictures and post them.

Thanks guys and girls. You lot are a great support. :)

good luck with the move doug. our dog dave was a collie/alsation cross - mark was devastated when we lost him last year but he had reached the grand age of 18. such a sweet natured dog, may you have as many years of joy ahead of you with lennon and boomer!

All the best with the move Doug, know how stressful it all is.

Liz & I are also potentially moving. All our free time has been spent clearing Todd Terraces (which may explain my absence here of late); we swiftly realised we needed somewhere much bigger as we moved stuff into a storage unit and since have been preparing both there and Chez Liz to be put on the market.

We pit an offer in for a property in Stone yesterday and are waiting to hear.

Wishing you all the best Doug and I'm sure Boomer will be thrilled to have a new playmate.

I'll post one picture here of Lennon and a few more on the Pet Thread.

Image

The wee soul needs a lot of work to get back into shape. He's only been up and about for the past few weeks after recovering from getting run over 6 months ago and basically being left for dead. He needs to get fattened up a bit and also get used to walking and running as he has not had a lot of of exercise in the past half year.

You can see the scar from the wound on his back leg. It is getting much better for him. His Foster owner takes him out and he was happy today to play with Boomer.

Best of luck with the move. I hoppe you find somewhere suitable soon and it all goes smoothly. Lennon is lovely. I'm sure he and Boomer will love having each other for companions.

We are both a little upset by the news we received last night that the foster owners of Lennon are wanting to keep him for themselves. :(

In a way I understand how they have become attached to him but still....

We are still going to get another dog though. Might have to wait now until we move but we both think it would be good for Boomer.

Cheers Pauline. We have a few people over the weekend coming to check it out. We are hoping that it won't take too long to sell. Next week we are planning on seeing a few places that we are interested in. Kerstin is stressed out with everything at the moment to do with her work situation so I'm trying to get my head around all the other stuff.
