LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Michael Jackson was rushed by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering cardiac arrest, celebrity gossip site TMZ.com reported on Thursday afternoon.

According to the report, calls to police were made from the King of Pop's home shortly after noon Pacific time. Jackson, 50, was apparently in cardiac arrest and paramedics performed CPR on him.

An update on his condition is not known, but the site says his mother was on her way to visit him. CBS 2 has not confirmed this report.

Christ almighty.

Least he is at peace now, away from all the media frenzy. He was just a kid, thrown into stardom and had never grown up. He was talented at what he did though, despite all the strangeness.
Wasn't a big fan of his but have fond memories of childhood and school.

Feeling sorry for his kids.

I agree completely. Still blowing me away - my sister's nephew was texting with his friends while we were picking berries at the farm this afternoon and told me that his friend texted him that, I thought it was a hoax. Can't quite wrap my head around it!

Was never a big fan, even at the height of his career. Never good to hear someone has passed away and my feelings go out to his family.
What now though, endless media frenzy and non stop Micheal Jackson videos. Cant say i will be tuning in. Sorry.

I'm glad this happened now and not 10 or 15 years ago.

Had this happened at the height of his madness it'd have been a croos between the deaths of Elvis and Princess Diana - there'd have been suicides and all sorts.

I think we're going to be hearing a lot more about what really went on at Neverland over the coming months, and none of it will enhance his reputation.

At least he's left behind a legacy of some well-packaged pop music.

I'm also glad it happened now - rather than in the midst of those 50 shows at the O2.
The media would have ripped him to peices.

His surgeons already did that, before he passed away.

What a strange and sad life!
I can't say I'm shocked at the news though - he's looked at deaths door for years!
Despite not being a fan, I can appreciate his contribution to pop music and feel dreadfully sorry for his family and following.

Mind you, the girl at the next desk at work came close to joining him this afternoon after playing Jacko on her tinny radio for 5 hours solid!

A huge talent who lost his way due to the hordes of 'Colonel Tom Parkers' surrounding him.
A least he's at peace now.

RIP.

Ooo, sorry, Michelle, that must have been a hard afternoon! Not a fan, though when Thriller came out, went through a period of liking it. I just think what a sad and twisted person he became, and what child stars go through. Few of them seem to come into adulthood with a solid foundation.
