Welcome
Welcome to the Hackenbush Herald.

You are currently viewing our boards as a guest, which gives you limited access to the most entertaining site on the Internet... Now stop being a fool and Join up or if you have already joined then Log on... we don't bite honestly!!
Inside you will find loads of interesting people to communicate with, laugh with, share a virtual beer with, and just ask for plain old help in anything you need... We are a wide and varied bunch, quite bizarre and strange in most of the things we do, but all good people at heart...
I do however have to warn you about Doug.ie, he's a fat bald headed bloke who thinks he's king pin on the forums, however he is easily taken down a peg or two, if your having difficulty with him just ask and i'll give you a picture of him naked to use as a weapon!!

Oh...one last thing his dog is gay by the way!!!

Welcome aboard!

now, although this book isnt exclusively about the declaration period, it does cover it, as well as the period before and after up to end of 1985.

it's a book that i am in two minds about, as it seem to concentrate too much on the criticism that the band got...but on the other hand its got some great images of the band.

i am not sure if there are other books about the band...i'd be interested to know..

this is a lot of images for one post here...hope those interested can see them ok....i used a digital camera because it was much quicker than scanning...but if people have problems reading any blurred text i can scan...being a helpful old skin and all..

i'm sure some folks here have this book...but for those that havent it may be interesting..

It's a hard book to find nowadays and it does have some great pics. It was okay on content, but I reckon when Mike does his it will be monumental.

It should have been banned for featuring some god-awful knitwear! :?

I've got a copy of this book, signed by Mike when he was in a record store in East Kilbride in 1987 while promoting Rain in The Summertime single.I've got to laugh when I'm sure there was a bit in the book where Mike recalls Joe Strummer ignoring him and slagging The Alarm off and how Mike lost all respect for him.Strange how Mike is now singing the praises of Joe and is supposed to be forming some sort of Joe Strummer tribute band(LOS MONDOS BONGO or something).Very cynical.!£67 for a mint condition book, now that would be worth selling.

There are some really cool pictures in that. I really want one now, I'll have to go looking in Hay-On-Wye or something.

Lily is Mike doing a book - I woke up thinking about the possibility of him doing one the other day - it's never occurred to me before but it just popped into my head there.

He has said it a few times, although there have been quite a few offers from people to write his biography, including a few from the fanbase, he has said that it's something he wants to do himself just that it's on the back burner at the moment.

There is an infamous story of one of our fellow Alarm fans, Graham Lampen, having spoke to Joe Strummer about that in a restaurant circa 2000 where Joe was actually very complimentary of Mike and clarified a few of the things he had said about him/The Alarm, Mike told the story of that meeting at the Saturday night of the Gathering that year. It's actually on the Gathering dvd.
