could actually be a very shrewd move...
he's scored good goals for england when he's been partnered with...wayne rooney..
and he's cost nothing...
and he could be a good sub player...bring him on for last 15-20 mins most games...
and at man utd, he'll know its his last chance saloon and he'll never have a better team providing him with chances, so he'll be killing himself trying to get back to be form, he'll be motivated..

I think you could be right Doug, he's just so injury prone that he's always going to be a risk.

How do you Liverpool fans feel about it?

I think it's a shrewd move.

Given how much a world class striker costs to buy + wages, Owen's match fees will be a worthwhile risk.

I've read a lot of forums about this today, many folk are angry upset, many see it as just one of those things..my thought are similar with some things others have posted......

Owen is the ultimate professional footballer and that's not meant as a compliment, make no mistake Owen was once a Liverpool legend, he was always in the shadow of bigger legends, but whilst at Liverpool he was given the treatment of songs ,flags etc that he deserved, he single handedly won us the FA cup in 2001, he was once worshiped. Thats now history!
Like all ex players he was given the respect deserved when ever he returned, his time at Newcastle didn't work out, as a footballer wanting to reignite his career, enhance a bank balance and play for a team that wins things, a move was inevitable.
As a football fan I accept and understand that, but as a Liverpool fan he's committed the ultimate sin.
Owen is now a distant and different player to the young talent we had. I wish him the best, I don't wish him ill or injury just that he continues at the same level of success he has enjoyed since he left us, in line with LFC culture he won't get booed should he return to Anfield, but rest assured he won’t be getting clapped either.

2 Michaels have died in the past fortnight.
One being a small white squeaky voiced w*nker, and the other, oh, hold on...!!

Never mind at least we welcome home King Kenny!!!

Well, I strongly disagree with Simon on this one.

Lest we forget, Owen grew up an Everton supporter. Presumably Liverpool fans must have known that, by signing for them, Owen had already shown that he had no notion or inclination towards the sort of 'loyalty' some Liverpool fans appear to expect.

If a footballer wants to remain loyal to a particular team, then that's most laudable, and entirely their decision. But it's a peculiarly rare event, and subsequently wrong of us to expect it from anyone.

Were Liverpool prepared to re-sign Owen on similar terms to those he's on at Manchester? Or re-sign him at all? If not, then Liverpool fans are expecting Owen to 'give' something to Liverpool (not signing for 'the enemy'), when Liverpool are unprepared to do the same for Owen.

It's a bit like two friends in the schoolyard - friend A is disgusted that his mate Friend B won't come to his aid when he's being bullied, despite the fact that friend A refused to help friend B when he was in the same boat.

Presumably Liverpool are getting as much grief for their identical ‘disloyalty’ as Owen. No? Well, there’s a double standard for you.

All in my opinion, of course.

Now you find me a more Loyal Liverpool player.....!!!

If a footballer wants to remain loyal to a particular team, then that's most laudable, and entirely their decision. But it's a peculiarly rare event, and subsequently wrong of us to expect it from anyone. I agree and confirmed it was the ultimate professional footballer move,as a footballer wanting to reignite his career, enhance a bank balance and play for a team that wins things, a move was inevitable, and I accept that.. Its just because he's joined the Scum that I'm disowning him and i'm upset...i'm not asking anyone else to be...

If not, then Liverpool fans are expecting Owen to 'give' something to Liverpool (not signing for 'the enemy'), when Liverpool are unprepared to do the same for Owen. Strong rumours are they did try but financially couldn't match united...they had apparently tried in the past but the same applied, also a players career is short enough, despite being blighted with injury, so I can see why he did it, I just don't like it ..

It's a bit like two friends in the schoolyard - friend A is disgusted that his mate Friend B won't come to his aid when he's being bullied, despite the fact that friend A refused to help friend B when he was in the same boat. I was brought up in a strong Labour area, voted Labour all my life ..However when they shafted me professionally in 2003 they lost all my respect and will never ever ever get my vote again ..thats me ..I take things to heart and stick by my thoughts

Presumably Liverpool are getting as much grief for their identical ‘disloyalty’ as Owen. No? Well, there’s a double standard for you.
What disloyalty..they tried and failed...I'll give them no grief...!!! Double Standards... I hate all Man United players and everything to do with the club... no Double Standards... surely by disowning Owen i'm showing that clearly..

All in my opinion, of course.
As was my initial post, my opinion and thoughts, nothing else!!, but I accept yours take them on board and still think he's a w*nker for going to the scum!!

It'll be interesting to see how this works out.

Hat trick against Liverpool?

All season warming the bench?

Anything's possible. Thanks for the reply, mate.
